Based in Palm Beach, our organization hosts a variety of art, culture, and community gatherings designed to uplift and support individuals facing life altering circumstances. Through art, dance, film, photography, writing, sports and collaborative projects, we create safe and nurturing spaces for both children and adults, particularly those recovering from sexual abuse and trauma.
Keeping abreast to creative coping modalities , mental health , trauma care and advances in wellness , neuroscience, brain and emotional connection is a passion of Monica Fish and it is our secret to success.
Our mission is to provide a compassionate, creative outlet for healing, helping people navigate their obstacles and rediscover their strength, resilience and purpose. At Divine Durgas, we believe in the transformative power of creativity and community to bring about intentional wellness in the lives of those we serve.
Founded, based on a truth that Monica Fish knew she could not heal by only continuing to talk about the events contributing to her PTSD but that it must come a creative life force within.
The Goddess Durga, represents all that is beautiful, glorious and pure. Her worship leads to abundance, auspiciousness and prosperity. As the Mother, she preserves, matures and protects. Her Luminosity slays the dark lower forces , falsehoods and evil. As Goddess Durga , she destroyed the asuras Chanad and Mund as well as other demons. She represents power, agency and glory of women to fight against oppression and deliver justice. Monica found Durga akind to holy Queen Mary as a child and often thought of them as divine counterparts. Sisters. One a little more edgy than the other.
Understanding changemakers are grown, and watered and contribute to the beauty around them is how the divine presents itself in this world. To represent the light.
The manifestation of Divine Durgas came about in 2016, after Monica and her friend spoke about the presence of a matriarch in each persons life can often lead to having true wings as they regain their sense of self and carryon with new meaning learning to make Joy the new standard.
Not realizing it at the time, Monica would need to enroll in her own curriculum again after life gave her yet another life altering set back in 2017. However, this time it affected her children. Her commitment to the greater good grew stronger as she remembered her roots and her tool box of creativity to help guide her out of the dark. Divine Durgas Wellness Foundation was now unbound.
Divine Durgas is a nonprofit dedicated to fostering healing, expression, wellness and connection through the power of creative arts.
Fostering wellness and community through creativity.
